Laos (whole), also known as galanga or galangal, is an aromatic root widely used in Surinamese, Indonesian and Asian cuisine. Its flavour is fresh, slightly spicy and citrusy, and distinctly different from ginger.

Laos is an important ingredient in dishes such as saoto soup, nasi, bami, curries and stews. The root is usually cooked in slices for extra aroma.

Storage tip

Store in the refrigerator. Can also be frozen for longer shelf life.
